Sparkle Parade!

Sat, June 29, 5-7pm. FREE. Come dressed to glow in the dark and join us for the SPARKLE PARADE as we form a glittering trail from The Oval (off Hudson Bay Road) down to Catalina Bay.

If you don’t know where The Oval is, it’s the big open space next to the two-storey vintage houses on the waterfront. To get to it, head left down Hudson Bay Road, which runs off Hobsonville Point Road. You know where the old yellow air force hangars are? Hudson branches off just before the one on the left. There will be no parking on Hudson Bay Road, so if you need to get there by car, park nearby and then walk. Or take the bus! For safety’s sake, a traffic management plan will in place between 5 and 6pm. Hobsonville Point Road will be open as usual.

Enjoy hot beverages, pick up some glow sticks, bright toys and LED lights – $5 per pack – and go on a glittering walk down to and around Catalina Bay to enjoy lively music, food, and a Glow Circus Zone offering fun with illuminated poi, hoops and juggling balls.

The Sparkle Parade is all about you getting involved – you ARE the parade. So come dressed in your best ‘glow in the dark’ sparkly outfit and you could win prizes – hampers from Ryman Healthcare, one of four whizzy LED-lit umbrellas – like the one in the video above – or a super backpack plus a $50-off voucher for your next travel booking at Hobsonville Point House of Travel.

There’ll be food trucks and performances from the Hobsonville Point Secondary School’s kapa haka group and the Hobsonville Choir. PLUS music from The G Strings and Omega Levine. Delicious food options at the end of the parade will include dumplings, hot dogs, hamburgers, gelato and homemade baking from our lovely Hobsonville Point Mums! And the kids will love the the Glow Circus Play Zone, staged by the crew from Highly Flammable, where they can play with LED-lit hula hoops, poi, juggling balls and more.
