Come along to one of Kaipatiki Project’s Bushcare days this winter. Held over 6 weekends from June to October you and your family and friends can come and help keep Kaipatiki and Upper Harbour beautiful by weeding and planting.

Run by Kaipatiki Project, the environment centre of the North Shore, community planting days are aimed at getting everybody and outside and looking after the environment they live in.

Children love the experience as Alex Davis age 7 from Kauri Park School said “I really enjoy tree planting as I get to plant a tree, learn about the bush, use some “proper” tools like a spade and get to have a sausage sizzle at the end!”

Janet Cole, Manager of Kaipatiki Project says “This is an opportunity for local people to get actively involved in changing the face of their neighbourhood for the better and make a lasting difference to their environment. You will meet many interesting, committed people, have lots of fun and help plant 10-15,000 plants over this winter.”

Families are invited to come along and make a fun morning of it, BBQ is provided to all planters. Planters are encouraged to wear gumboots and bring gloves and a spade if they have one.

The dates of the community bushcare days are :

Sat 17th June (Eskdale), Sat 1st July (Eskdale), Sat 29th July (Eskdale), Sat 12th August (Eskdale), Sept 2nd (Upper Harbour), Sept 9th Upper Harbour)

On Saturday 12th August – Meet at 10am at Glenfield Road just across the road from the Z Petrol Station. Come and help to release plants on the bush side, replant the gaps on the bush side and some harakeke maintenance.
