Dogs may be man’s best friend but the same cannot always be said of your neighbours.
The HPRS committee has recently received complaints from residents living near houses with dogs about bothersome barking day and night. In some cases, dogs seem to rouse others living nearby and together cause quite a cacophony.
May we remind all residents of Auckland Council’s regulations and advice around dog ownership (including how to make a complaint about a dog and barking prevention). Residents seeking to own more than one dog may require a permit and consent from their neighbours.
If you are bothered by dogs barking, we also suggest approaching the owner directly as they may not be aware of their dog’s behaviour if they are out during the day.
