DESCRIPTION:We’re looking to the future\nand want your ideas\nDear Residents\, \nYour committee has begun work on a long-term plan for this great place we live in. \n \nWe believe your society needs to have a firm foundation on which to push towards fulfilling our idea of creating the best possible future for Hobsonville Point\, not just short-term but for the next five years or so. \nAt a recent one-day workshop we came up with this mission statement\, which is to build and maintain: \nan embracing\, vibrant\, village style community \nBut the committee doesn’t ‘own’ the society to which we belong. You do. We all do. \nThat’s why we want to hear your views. \nWe have a draft plan we’d like to share with you. We believe it’s important to have not just airy ideas of how we’d like life to be on the Point\, but a sound action plan to ensure projects are managed efficiently and well and we are making best use of the funds to which everyone contributes every year. \nYou are therefore invited to: \nGATHERING 2.0 \nWHERE \nHobsonville Point Primary School \nWHEN \nJULY 22 (next Sunday) 2pm \nEveryone welcome. No need to register ahead of time. NB It’s at the primary school – not the secondary school\, where we had our first gathering in April. \nWe know this is short notice but the end of this committee’s term is approaching and we have a lot to do! Can’t make it? Be assured we will make the draft public so you can offer feedback. Then\, with everyone’s views on board\, we will put the plan to the community for approval at our annual general meeting on October 24.

DESCRIPTION:Calling on those with a passion for reducing household waste in Hobsonville Point! \n“We should be recycling less not more\,\nfocusing our efforts on Refuse\, Reduce and Reuse…\nand then\, as a last resort\, Recycle” \nHLC has been asked to help set up a group of like minded residents that want to ‘do something’ to help the community reduce household waste. If you have lots of ideas on this and would love to get them going\, or are keen to get lots of ideas for your household\, please come along to get a group established and start generating ideas and actions over a cuppa. We will be doing some fun activities and having a chat about what else we might like to do in the future. DESCRIPTION:Trailblazers\, mud-lovers and outdoor enthusiasts take note – the annual Runway Challenge is returning to Hobsonville Point on Sunday\, May 21. \nRun or walk a 3\, 5 or 10km course with a difference that takes in the interesting and historic surrounds of the old Hobsonville Airbase and spectacular views of Hobsonville Point. Optional obstacle adventures are included for extra family fun. \nOrganized by the Henderson-West Auckland Lions Club\, entry fees start from $20 per person (or $25 on the day) and all profits are given back to the community through the Lions Club of Henderson-West Auckland Charitable Trust. \nThe event starts from the Hobsonville Point Primary School where entertainment and stalls will also be onsite between 9am and 1pm.
