Residents Amar and Dee Trivedi are organising this as a local tribute to Diwali – the Festival of Lights. \nIt’s the Hindu New Year\, celebrated all over the world to signal the triumph of light over darkness\, good over bad and to welcome in peace and prosperity. \nThere’s a $10 charge to help cover expenses (though kids under 10 are free) but they’ve also got great support from HQ\, as the venue; Indian Summer\, supplying Indian eats and snacks; and Hobsonville Countdown\, providing beverages and refreshments. \nChuck on your ethnic gear or simply something bright\, as there’s a prize for best dressed male and female. \nExpect live Indian music and dancing\, henna painting\, authentic decorations and a traditional welcome.
