SUMMARY:Winterfest on the Point

Winterfest on the Point is funded by your levy and arranged with all residents in mind. Yes\, you are very welcome to any of our events. Why do we produce the Winterfest? That’s easy\, so we can get to know neighbours better and create a safer connected community in our beautiful Hobsonville Point. Huge thanks to all those involved volunteers and staff and our sponsors listed below. It takes a village. \n \nDETAILED INFORMATION\nTo kick off the week join Shlomit at 10am for a beverage and chat with like-minded people at Chichester Cottage at Circle of Friends. \nSince its school holidays why not bring the children from 1pm to the Cottage (192b Buckley Ave – next to Bear Park) and be bewildered by the mastery of a Matariki themed shadow puppet show hosted by talented new resident Ifat who’s a puppeteer. \nOn Tuesday it’s time to dress up in Red\, White and Blue for Bastille Day and watch out for random acts of Frenchness throughout the day! Did you know that Fabric Bistro have a new wonderful French floor manager Aurelien?! Or pre order a French meal on Bastille Day by Cali Mero. Just before sunset we’ll walk/bike along the Coastal Walkway boardwalk and finish at Catalina Bay to the sounds of AKSamba (around 5.15pm)!!! You might recall AKSamba from Waitangi Day on the Point. Along the walkway our good natured Habitat Hobsonville volunteers will be present to guide the community to ensure we are all safe. \nChichester Cottage is next to Bear Park 192b Buckley Ave. Bring torches\, cameras\, something warm\, gold coins\, snacks\, raincoat (if dodgy weather) and consider leaving your car at home or hop on the bus that leaves every 15 mins down Hobsonville Road. SUMMARY:Jazz on the Chichester Cottage Lawn
DESCRIPTION:Come celebrate the opening on Chichester Cottage on Sunday March 1 from 4pm – 8pm. We’re planning a 1930’s themed soirée so it would be great if you could dig out your clothes to match and come prepared with a BYO picnic. There’ll be Jazz by the Allana Goldsmith Band\, dancing\, and old school sports on the lawn. \nWe’d like to thank Ryman Hobsonville for kindly donating the complimentary high tea scones and other activities and Anna Byron – #TeamByron – Ray White for the beverages. \nChichester Cottage was gifted to the Hobsonville Point Residents Society from Kainga Ora and Auckland Council to use as a bookable community venue which will be open to hire from March 2. This is your opportunity to view the venue and learn a little bit more about its history. \nIf you’re unsure where the cottage is located\, it’s 192b Buckley Avenue\, Hobsonville Point\, Auckland 0618\, next to Bear Park Daycare and the western side of the coastal walking track. \nSee you there!\nTeam HPRS

SUMMARY:HP Garden Ramble
DESCRIPTION:If you’re home on November 16 you won’t want to miss the lovely bi-annual local Garden Ramble. This FREE event is just a fortnight away. All the details can be found here on this HP Garden Ramble 2019 + Address List or you can view below. If you are unable to print a copy at home\, hard copies are available at the House of Travel Hobsonville or the Information Centre behind Catalina Cafe.\n\n\nThis is the 3rd Garden Ramble to be held at Hobsonville Point and is held every two years so don’t miss out. There are 16 wonderful gardens you may visit. Bring your camera\, questions & curiosity. Additionally\, there are experts on-site (landscape gardeners\, composite decking\, cedar painter\, house washing and composting). You may also visit our Community Garden\, Kaipatiki Project at Engine Bay and House of Travel will have details of gardening tours.\n\n\nLimited on time? – check out all the garden features you are most interested in and go to those gardens first view the addresses below. Most houses here have small or sometimes no front yards. But tucked away in quiet corners behind houses are lovely spots where residents have created their own quiet oases full of colour and lush texture\, and with pleasant sitting areas.\n\n\nThis is a free event\, put on by locals for locals\, and made possible by residents generous enough to allow visitors to wander by. It’s a nice social event too\, as you can meet new people and chat about planting and landscaping with people whose outdoor areas are of a similar size to yours. These gardens\, spread around the Point\, will reveal how even tiny spaces can be beautiful.\n\n\nThe owners of these 16 gardens have graciously volunteered or been persuaded to make their gardens available. They do not claim to be experts but they do wish to encourage others to enjoy gardening and outdoor living as much as they do.  \nThere is a range of styles\, sizes and plant selections. Some gardens have been established for a few years\, and some are newly planted. Some gardens were designed by professionals and others were created by enthusiasts. The owners will be available to discuss what has worked and what has been less successful.  \nIf your time is limited\, check the HP Garden Ramble 2019 + Address List and narrow down your search. If time is on your side\, you can easily spend the whole day wandering from garden to garden. So you can find all the lovely gardens on show on Nov 16 in the Hobsonville Point Garden Ramble. It’s all set for you to enjoy between 10am and 4pm.    \nHP Garden Ramble Flyer – all you need to know

SUMMARY:Barn Dance
DESCRIPTION:Hobsonville Community Trust is offering a chance to have a whole heap of fun with dancing for all ages\, led by an Irish Ceilidh Band today (Saturday) at Sunderland Lounge. They will also make sure we know what to do! It’s completely FREE and there will be prizes\, soft drinks and nibbles provided by Ryman Healthcare. This will be a night to remember and what a great way to get to know your neighbours. It finishes nice and early for those with young families\, 6.45 to 8.30pm.\nThe organisers say that alcohol is fine\, but remind you to consume it responsibly.   \n

SUMMARY:2019 AGM
DESCRIPTION:Save the date! The 2019 Annual General Meeting of the Hobsonville Point Residents Society is approaching. We had a super turnout at the last meeting and are hoping to see just as big a crowd this year in the auditorium at Hobsonville Point Secondary School. There is much to discuss\, including the ongoing challenge of streetscape maintenance and how to meet everyone’s desire for neighbourhoods that look smart and tidy. See you there!
