The long-awaited steel sculpture for the Harrier Point play area at the foot of Launch Road is still coming as resource consent took longer than expected. The designer, Philipp Meier, is now completing Te Kanohi O Te Manu (The Eye of the Bird).
It will stand almost 10 metres high and it’s going to be fun!
Steps will lead up to a viewing platform in the bird’s head with a slide down through the body offering a fast way down. Sorry, no completion date has yet been announced.
A large model of the statue can be seen at the Hobsonville Point Information Centre next to Catalina Café in Hastings Street.
