Get involved in the upcoming Come Fly with Me kite day, set for April 8.
It is being run by events company Open Fort, who also created it last year. Their team is managing it all, but they’d appreciate a little help from volunteers who might be able to assist with:
  • Setup or packdown on the day – putting up marquees, tables, chairs etc, and packing them down at the end of the day.
  • Helping run activities – crafting, making things, running little games
There’s scope for locals who are keen to have an interactivity space on the day. This is about using your art or craft skills to run an activity where adults/kids can get involved and have fun.

Open Fort’s Toby Falconer says, “if anyone is keen on this we can help them create what these activities/mini-games might be.”

The idea is not to be selling your wares but getting some exposure and adding to Hobsonville’s leisure and creative life as the happy kite-flying goes on overhead. Open Fort will supply tents, tables etc.

Local school pupils were very involved in last year’s event but this year the idea is for it to be community focused.
